We have heard of the recent closures of Waddle & Swaddle, Cotton & Company, and O! Baby Baby. We have a full selection of nursing bras, breastfeeding items, cloth diapers, and baby slings/carriers. We also have a wonderful, knowledgeable staff that can help you make your selections. The lilaguide (www.lilaguide.com) began when Oli Mittermaier and Elysa Marco had their daughter Delilah (hence the name “lilaguide”), and experienced the panic of being first-time parents. The couple quickly found that the best resource out there was word-of-mouth information from other parents. Every parent seems to have some bit of child-rearing advice, whether it’s about what baby-gear store is the most helpful, or which restaurants tolerate strained carrots on the floor. The couple thought someone should write stuff like this down… And that's how the lilaguide was born. All of the information included in the lilaguide website and books is written by parents for parents. Tens of thousands of moms across the country help produce this insider's guide to stores, restaurants, service providers, and activities that are a very big part of every parent’s life. And while the guides won't tell you how to change a diaper or how to get by on little or no sleep (that's what grandparents are for), they will tell you what other local parents have learned about what your city has to offer -- including virtually every baby product you need, from cribs to strollers. And please be sure to submit your own experiences and opinions. Not only is it what makes the lilaguide guides so useful, it’s also a great way to meet other like-minded parents in your area. |

| World Breastfeeding Week was created to celebrate the signing of the Innocenti Declaration of 1990 on the Protection, Promotion and Support of Breastfeeding, created by the World Health Organization & UNICEF. It is celebrated in 120 countries on various dates to help promote the benefits of breastfeeding worldwide. The Nurture Center will be giving away prizes generously donated by manufacturers who offer products that support breastfeeding mothers. Example prizes include a Medela Pump in Style Breast Pump, Arm's Reach co-sleeper, baby slings, and other breastfeeding products. We invite all our local customers to stop by between August 1st and 7th to be entered in the drawing to win one of the great prizes. The Nurture Center is located at 3399 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette. Hours are Monday thru Friday, 9:30am - 5:30pm, and Saturday 10am - 5pm. In addition, we are hosting a "Working & Breastfeeding" class on Tuesday, August 5th from 7pm - 9pm at our store. Lactation consultants as well as a representative from Medela will be on hand to offer advice and demonstrations on how to combine working and breastfeeding successfully. | Our customers are some of our best buyers, and we recently added Boob Designs nursing tops to our store, based on their recommendations. Boob Designs come from Sweden, and the concept was invented by a gal watching her sister nurse her newborn son. She decided there must be a better way to design a nursing top that gives good coverage, as well as easy and quick access. There are no clips or snaps - just an overlapping layer of fabric at chest level. A mom can get nursing access easily, even while holding a hungry baby in one arm, by lifting up the top layer, and pushing down the bottom layer of fabric. Ingenious! These tops aren't cheap, but every mom we have talked to say that these tops hold up great in the wash, and are the top they reach for time and time again. Trust us! Buy one! | At the request of our local customers, we have recently added these hand-dyed and batiked in Bali, Indonesia baby wrap carriers. Gypsy Mama offers both stretch wraps and gauze wraps. Though the stretch wraps are a fairly lightweight cotton, the gauze wraps are some of the lightest, coolest, most compact wraps on the market, and fold down into a handy built-in storage pocket. The gauze, like other woven wraps, offers the greatest range of carrying positions, and many find it more supportive for older children.
